Home Decor Care and User Guide
Jesmonite is a versatile and eco-friendly material used in both decorative and architectural applications. It is a blend of gypsum and acrylic resins, which act as a binder to provide strength and flexibility while being water-based for a lower environmental impact.
Eco-Friendly and VOC-Free:
- Eco-Friendly: Jesmonite is considered more environmentally friendly compared to traditional materials like concrete or resin due to its low environmental impact during production and its ability to be used in place of more harmful materials.
- VOC-Free: Jesmonite is generally free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it a safer option for indoor use as it doesn't release harmful fumes or chemicals into the air.
1. General Handling/Use:
- Avoid Impact: Jesmonite is durable but can crack or chip if dropped or subjected to heavy impact. Handle with care and love.
- Heat and fire resistant but if used to burn decorative candles, discolouration on the surface is to be expected.
- Avoid potential heat damage to your candle holder or tray, discontinue use when there is only approximately 5mm of wax remaining.
- When used with dry foods or any products, gently wash your piece with warm water, then dry immediately with a soft cloth. Jesmonite may absorb colours or oils over time, so prompt cleaning helps prevent staining.
2. Cleaning:
- Regular Dusting: Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent buildup of dirt and debris.
- Spot Cleaning: For stains or spills, use a damp cloth with mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads.
- Avoid Soaking: Do not submerge Jesmonite items in water prolonged exposure to water/moisture, may affect the finish and may lead to water mark stains.
- No direct heat contact: Not microwave/oven or dishwasher safe.
3. Storage:
- Keep Dry: Store Jesmonite pieces in a dry environment to prevent moisture absorption.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading or discolouration.
6. Avoid Exposure:
- Chemical Exposure: Avoid exposing Jesmonite to harsh chemicals or solvents, as they may damage the surface or finish.
- High Temperatures: Keep Jesmonite away from extreme heat sources, as this can cause warping or damage.
7. Safety:
- Handle with Care: Jesmonite is generally safe, but always follow standard safety precautions when handling and cleaning.
By following these care guidelines, you can help ensure that your Jesmonite pieces remain beautiful and functional for years to come.
